The LSU Gold Fig Tree is a fast-growing fig that was developed by the LSU Agriculture Center. The LSU Gold Fig Tree grows very large, light yellow figs that have a pink or light red flesh. The main advantage of the LSU Gold Fig Tree is the size of the figs, which can grow to 3 or 4 inches across, and 1.25 to 1.75 ounces. LSU Gold Figs bloom in spring and are ripe and ready to eat from July through August. The LSU Gold Fig is a medium-sized tree, growing to a mature size of about 12 to 15 feet tall, and 8 to 10 feet wide. They are self-fertile, and do best in partial to full sun. The LSU Gold Fig Tree is considered to be cold hardy, and can tolerate temperatures down to 15 to 20 degrees F.
