IVT VRLA charger 3STEP 12V/4A/8A 12 V Charging current (max) 8 A

Unlike chargers with a I/U characteristic, this unit uses a constant current. This speeds up the charge procedure considerably, as batteries are charged using the maximum current through to the end of the charge cycle. A further advantage is the ability to charge batteries to 100% of their capacity. Controlled gassing is desirable, as it significantly affects the build-up of sulphate layers, and thus extends battery life. Up to a voltage of 14.7 V or 7.3 V with 6-V rechargeable batteries (6 V only with 500 mA wall-socket charger), the battery is charged with maximum current. Then the device switches to timer mode and charges the battery for an hour at constantly decreasing current. After around an hour, the device enters stand-by mode, and starts a trickle-charge at 13.8 V. The units are naturally protected against short-circuits and polarity reversal.
