Following 2010's Villain, director Lee Sang Il once again adapts a best-selling Yoshida Shuichi novel for the silver screen with the critically acclaimed human suspense drama Rage. Garnering 12 nominations at the 40th Japan Academy Prize, the film features the all-star cast of Watanabe Ken (Unforgiven), Miyazaki Aoi (The Great Passage), Moriyama Mirai (Human Trust), Matsuyama Kenichi (Death Note), Ayano Go (The Light Shines Only There), Hirose Suzu (Our Little Sister) and Tsumabuki Satoshi (Villain), who won Best Supporting Actor at the 40th Japan Academy Prize. Similar to Villain, Rage (a.k.a. Ikari) delves into the subject of human nature, illustrating the way trust and suspicion shape relationships. Rage begins with the murder of a married couple in Tokyo's Hachioji district. Puzzlingly, the killer leaves the word rage scrawled in blood at the scene of the crime. A year later, three mysterious men emerge as persons of interest in the case, and one of them may be the suspected killer who has undergone plastic surgery. In Chiba, Maki Yohei (Watanabe Ken) finds himself distrusting his flighty daughter Aiko's (Miyazaki Aoi) new boyfriend Tetsuya (Matsuyama Kenichi), who recently moved to town. In Tokyo, gay ad agency employee Fujita Yuma (Tsumabuki Satoshi) harbors suspicions about his new lover Onishi Naoto (Ayano Go), a drifter he recently took into his home. And in Okinawa, a high school girl (Hirose Suzu) befriends a lone backpacker (Moriyama Mirai), who is camping out on a deserted outlying island. This edition comes with a 40-page booklet and two bonus discs of special features including making-of documentary, event footage and visual commentary.
