This chess set package includes our Fierce Knight Staunton Chess Set in rosewood and boxwood matched with our Santos Rosewood and Maple Deluxe Chess Board. The name accurately describes the knight with its fierce countenance captured by the detailed sculpture of its perked ears, eyes, nose, and mouth. This is a large set ideally suited for club and tournament play with a 4" tall king and a base diameter of 1.75". Pieces are made from east Indian rosewood and boxwood and are heavily weighted for exceptional stability on the chess board. Thick green baize pads on the bottom create a soft cushion and allow the pieces to slide smoothly across the chess board. We include two extra queens for pawn promotion and a certificate of authenticity so you will always know what the chess set is, what the wood is, where it came from, and when it was made. The rich warm colors of the rosewood range from a deep orange-brown to burgundy and every shade in between. The wood grain varies greatly producing unique patterns making each chess board individually unique. A triple pinstripe delimiter between the squares and frame gives the chess board an elegant look. The squares are 2.125" and the overall size of the board is 21.5" and a half inch thick. The chess board is sealed in a polyurethane matte finish that both protects and enhances the natural beauty of the wood.
