St. Benedict Sick Call CrucifixBeautiful, traditional designWalnut stain with pewter Corpus & MedalIncludes 2 candles and Holy Water bottleFor the Anointing of the SickThe purpose of the sick-call crucifix is to facilitate the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick, and to make the bedside a sacred space for the sacrament. Once a popular wedding present, it was traditionally hung over the bed of a married couple, ready for use when a spouse was in need of an anointing. It reminded the couple of their commitment to be true to each other "in sickness and in health." This traditional sick call set features a black St. Benedict Crucifix with pewter Corpus and Jubilee Medal, and gently scalloped edges on the top, arms, and bottom of the Crucifix. Stored inside the hollow compartment of the Crucifix are two candles for use during sick call visits, saying mass with the sick, or anointing. Also included is an empty Holy Water bottle that can be filled and stored in the inner compartment. Keep one at home so that you have what you need if a loved one becomes ill and your priest visits to administer the Sacraments or give as a traditional and time honored wedding gift. Also makes a wonderful gift for a priest or seminarian, who can bring it with him on home visits to the sick. Holy Water is not included. Note: Personalization, if added, will appear on the reverse of the crucifix. | Brown St. Benedict Sick Call Set Crucifix - 12 Inch
