HISTORY ASPECTS:The Pan American Boeing 747SP registered as N531PA was one of the most unique aircraft in the airline’s legendary fleet. The 747SP or "Special Performance" was a shortened version of the standard Boeing 747 designed for ultra-long-haul routes. Pan Am was one of the first airlines to operate the 747SP using it to pioneer nonstop transpacific and transatlantic flights that were previously impossible with other aircraft.
