The 20th Century Asian Pear (also known as the Shinseiki Asian Pear) is a productive grower that produces sweet, round, yellow pears with off-white, juicy, crisp flesh. 20th Century Asian Pear Trees bloom white flowers in early spring, and their fruit is ripe in late August. They do best in full sun and loamy well-drained soil. They are resistant to extremes of heat and cold, and will grow to about 10 feet tall and 7 feet wide. 20th Century Asian Pear Trees can be grown in the ground in USDA Zones 4 to 9. These trees need between 8 and 12 feet of space on all sides to accommodate growth. It is also good to place 20th Century Asian Pear Trees where they will have some air flow. Air flow helps to reduce fungus which can have a negative effect on new growth and blooms. A planting location with room for growth in an open, sunny spot is better than a crowded corner surrounded by walls, dense brush, or buildings.
